ProBlogger - Secrets For Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income Book Review

ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income is written by Darren Rowse and Chris Garret. It is published by John Wiley Publishing Inc. in 2008 (Yes! A relatively recent book) and is about 211 pages long.
The author Darren Rowse is the guy behind Problogger.Net which is also a well known blogging reference site. Darren's hobbies, such as photography, is one of the inspirations for many of his income producing blogging sites and as any reference material on blogging.
Chris Garrett is not only a professional blogger like Darren, but is also a writer and Internet marketing consultant. Chris also likes to pick up his camera and capture moments.
Now, why would you listen to these two guys about such a serious topic? Well, they are two guys who started like other successful people who checked out blogging, did some research, tried it, made a plan, got serious and then kept tenaciously pursuing what they wanted. This book is a couple of entrepreneurs who share their stories and lessons of how they are making a living blogging. Plus they add some humor and fun to it too, and the fact that they don't take themselves and the topic too seriously...there's enough of that already out there.
So, between Darren and Chris, they take turns working you through the following chapters that are helpful to beginners or for an experienced blogger wanting to make some changes to gain some monetary income from what they love to do.

• Blogging for Money - defines what a blog is and the ways you can use blogging to make money
• Niche Blogging - looks at the concepts of blog niches and gives you an overview of topics to consider when selecting your blog topic
• Setting Up Your Blog - walks you through the highlights of setting up your blog and helps you see that it's not as difficult as it would first seem
• Blog Writing - content is King! But don't forget about great headlines, formatting, reader involvements, etc.
• Blog Income and Earning Strategies - provides definitions and examples of making money directly, indirectly or a mixture
• Buying and Selling Blogs - highlights the factors usually considered by sellers and buyers of blogs and reminds you people are willing to buy blogs for more than just revenue alone
• Blog Networks - expresses the advantages of not going it alone and the various types of networks you could tap into and be a part of
• Blog Promotion and Marketing - is about the numerous approaches and tools you could use to promote your blog
• Secrets of Successful Blogs - tunes you in to the ways you can measure your success and provides lessons from Niche and Top blogs out there using active blog site examples you can check out yourself
• Creating Something Worthwhile - the "how to" of doing just that, "Creating Something Worthwhile" in blogging

One of the first things written in bold print that gets respect is the section header, Pro Blogging Is Not a Get-Rich-Quick Tactic. The little exercise sections that help you actually take action to learn more are great tools. In addition, the authors also give up links and tools, for free, to help you build and manage your own blog. Though the material is written in a manner that a new comer to blogging can easily and quickly grasp the concepts it also has great examples and techniques that even a well experienced blogger may find useful, possibly triggering new ideas or approaches.
Darren and Chris wrote a resource that, even though the technology may change (more than likely), the bigger concepts such as choosing your subject matter, defining your audience, evaluating your blog's success, sand ideas and ways to keep it fresh and interesting will still apply.
